Vital Beautie's PDRN Supplement Launches Into a Regulatory Gap
Amorepacific's Vital Beautie has launched an oral PDRN and collagen supplement, but PDRN itself carries no health-functional-food recognition from Korea's food and drug regulator, unlike the collagen it is paired with, even as regulator advertising violations tied to PDRN have climbed sharply since 2023.

Amorepacific's inner-beauty brand Vital Beautie has launched Super Collagen PDRN, an oral supplement combining 100mg of PDRN with 6,000mg of low-molecular collagen, aimed at consumers who want at-home care after professional skin treatments. What the launch omits is that PDRN, unlike the collagen it is paired with, has no recognition from Korea's Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS) as a functional ingredient for health functional food.
Two ingredients, one regulatory gap
Low-molecular collagen peptide has carried MFDS functional-ingredient status since 2013, when the agency recognized it for skin moisture retention, a designation that lets makers state that function on the label. PDRN, extracted from salmon or trout DNA and best known as the active compound in injectable "skin booster" procedures, has never received that recognition for oral use. Products that pair the two typically confine any functional claim to the collagen; PDRN itself enters through the looser general-food category, the same route CJ Wellcare used for its own oral-PDRN stick jelly.
A category MFDS is already watching
The distinction matters because MFDS enforcement against PDRN advertising has been climbing. The agency logged seven violation cases for PDRN cosmetics claims in 2023, rising to 39 in 2025 and 41 in the first six months of 2026, more than 100 cases across four years, most involving language that suggested drug-like effects. Enforcement so far has focused on cosmetics, not ingestible products, but the language framing Vital Beautie's launch, an "after routine" for consumers coming out of clinic procedures, marketed in part through the aesthetic-booking platform Gangnam Unni, sits close to the same drug-adjacent territory regulators have been citing.
Vital Beautie's own PDRN claims, including a company-stated 9.4-times absorption improvement, are not independently verified. As oral PDRN spreads from niche formulations into a major beauty conglomerate's flagship line, whether MFDS extends its cosmetics-focused scrutiny to the ingestible category is the open question the launch raises.
